Hailed as an artist of “…remarkable stage presence and unfettered emotional expression”, Kacey Cardin has performed around the world as a versatile singer-actress whose voice shines equally in operatic, musical theater, country, and soul repertoire.
In 2015, Kacey played Violetta in Arbor Opera’s groundbreaking La Traviata. Encore Michigan called the edgy production “a risk worth taking”, noting that “Ms. Cardin’s soprano vocals evoked just the right mix of moods and emotions…” and that “…her acting is quite strong on top of her vocals, which range from soaring to poignant.”
Kacey has originated roles in world premiere opera electronicas by Kristin Hevner-Wyatt and renowned librettist Royce Vavreck. She premiered the finale of Daniel Felsenfeld’s Raw Footage (recommended by The New Yorker), and is thrilled to be in his newest opera and collaborating with Opera on Tap! She has sung with the Center for Contemporary Opera, Syracuse Opera, Nashville Opera, and the Pine Mountain Music Festival, among others.
Her alter ego, Dixie DeLight, has performed all over NYC and Europe with the Hot Box Girls’ international sensation L’Opera Burlesque. Kacey has written, produced, and directed burlesque musical Follies Noir at NYC’s The Cutting Room. Quarterfinalist in the 2014 and 2015 American Traditions Competition, and 2015 “People’s Choice” Winner. Off-Broadway and International Tour of Girls Night: The Musical. www.kaceycardin.com
